CUB is looking for supporters from across the state to support our work during The Big Share 2024 on March 5th.
By participating, you can help CUB and other nonprofits work to “Make Change Happen.” That’s the theme for The Big Share, a one-day outpouring of giving in which hundreds of thousands of dollars are raised each year to support 70 nonprofit organizations that make up Community Shares of Wisconsin.
CUB’s goal for The Big Share is to raise $6,000 to advance our work, and our Board of Directors and several small business members and supporters of CUB will match contributions dollar for dollar to help us hit that goal.
CUB has been involved with Community Shares for decades. This year Community Shares is celebrating its 50th anniversary as a network of organizations standing up against injustice. Community Shares organizations advance human rights, fair housing, criminal justice reform, civic engagement, social and environmental justice, and a host of other causes.
CUB itself is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year as a nonpartisan nonprofit organization championing fairness for utility customers – homeowners, renters and small businesses across the state. We’ve given them a voice, and saved customers billions of dollars.
CUB is working to tackle affordability, and affordability is a much tougher challenge for those struggling to make ends meet. At our urging, the state began requiring utilities to measure the household energy burden experienced by some Wisconsinites, whether in rural counties or our cities.
Now CUB is working to find ways for everyone to stay connected and afford life-sustaining utility services. By giving through The Big Share you can Make Change Happen by helping us tackle the high household energy burdens faced by many across Wisconsin.
