Business owners and managers who want to learn about new tax credits, rebates and getting started on planning for future energy savings are invited to check out CUB’s 2025 Small Business Webinar.

CUB’s fall educational webinar series continued on Oct. 1 with “Small Business Energy Management 101.”

You can see a replay of that webinar below, or on the CUB YouTube channel here.

The webinar highlighted that you can’t manage what you don’t measure. Our residential webinar occurred on Sept. 17.

The Small Business webinar featured presentations from:

CUB Executive Director, Tom Content, called attention to demand response programs for small businesses offered by the utilities.

Charles Hua, Executive Director at Powerlines, discussed how the rising demand for electricity, driven by AI and manufacturing, is leading to skyrocketing electricity prices, which are rapidly outpacing and driving inflation. Public Service Commissions and Public Utility Commissions across the country have increased importance to determine energy bills, types of energy generation, and where the projects are located.

Jessy Servi Ortiz, Executive Director of Sustainable Business Council (SBC), focused on how to get started with an energy management program. SBC has an online tool called The Green Masters Program, which helps businesses measure and improve, certify, get recognized, and promote their sustainability actions. The tool also provides the resources and insights needed to drive integrated sustainability programs that add value to businesses.

Korinne Haeffel, director of market transformation and development at U.S. Green Building Council, spoke on Empowering Efficiency. She unpacked easy steps how building owners and operations managers can make their operations more efficient by utilizing the LEED v5 system. Korinne also shared information on the top drivers of green building, the benefits of improving office building energy efficiency, and countered the belief that green building is too costly and too complex.
